Salvatore DiMercurio M.D. – fondly known as Dr. D – graduated from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (previously Mount Sinai School of Medicine) in New York City. He completed his general surgery residency at Stony Brook University Hospital in Long Island, New York where he also researched growing human skin in the laboratory for his burn patients. After surgical residency, he completed advanced plastic surgery training at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville where he earned certifications in burns, microvascular, craniofacial, hand, reconstructive, and cosmetic surgeries. He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Although he is well known for his cosmetic approach when dealing with breast and skin cancers reconstruction Dr. D. specializes and especially enjoys performing conventional as well as minimally invasive cosmetic surgery. He is certified in CoolSculpting®, Erbium Fraxel, Nd:Yag Cynosure, Co2 laser and Venus Concept Radiofrequency fractionation. “Feeling good about one’s self is important,” he said. “It’s the fundamental fuel of well-being.
